Aisha Ahmad is a Canadian academic and associate professor of political science at the University of Toronto Scarborough. Her research focuses on political violence, terrorism, and international security, with a particular interest in how illicit economies intersect with conflict. She is the author of Jihad & Co.: Black Markets and Islamist Power, an award-winning study on the role of black markets in sustaining insurgent groups. In recognition of her contributions to scholarship, she was elected to the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists in 2022. Ahmad earned her PhD from McGill University and continues to be a leading voice in global security studies.
