Maryam Haideri

Translator, Writer, Cultural Editor

Maryam Haidari is a translator and writer from Khuzestan, Iran, known for bringing the works of Arab poets such as Mahmoud Darwish and Sargon Boulus into Persian, while also translating Persian and Afghan poets into Arabic. She is the author of Bab Muareb (A Door Ajar) and winner of the 2018 Ibn Battuta Prize for Travel Literature. Her most recent book, Persian Carpets (2022), presents modern Persian poetry in Arabic. Currently Culture Editor of Beirut’s Raseef 22, Haidari continues to expand literary bridges, with her forthcoming translations (with Salar Abdoh) of the 10th-century Arab mystic Al-Niffari into Persian and English.
