Mian Amer Mahmood is a prominent Pakistani businessman, educationist, and politician, best known as the founder of the Punjab Group of Colleges, one of the country’s largest private education networks. Over the decades, he expanded the group to include institutions such as Punjab Law College, Muhammad Ali Jinnah University, the University of Central Punjab, Resource Academia, and Allied Schools, shaping the educational landscape of Pakistan. In 2008, he launched Dunya News and later Roznama Dunya, becoming a key figure in the media industry. Mahmood served as Mayor of Lahore from 2001 to 2009, forging international sister-city agreements with Glasgow, Chicago, Isfahan, and Mashhad. In recognition of his contributions to education, governance, and media, he was awarded the Hilal-i-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan in 2012.
